Selected Indicators of The Arab Family Health Survey

The Tunisian Family Health Survey

The Tunisian Family Health Survey (TFHS) was conducted by the National Office of Family and Population in collaboration with the Pan Arab Project for Family Health. The TFHS is a nationally representative sample and was carried out in 2001.

The main objective of the survey is to provide policy makers, planners and researchers with detailed information on socio economic, health and environmental characteristics of the Tunisian Families.

This Detailed and integrated set of reliable information will help in formulating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the health policies and programs.

The TFHS sample covered 6083 households, 3902 ever married women aged 15-49 years old and 5429 never married youth aged 18-29 years old (2673 males against 2757 females).

The TFHS used the following questionnaires:

Household Questionnaire
  • Housing Characteristics
  • Reproductive Health Questionnaire for Ever Married Women Aged 15-49 Years Old.
  • The Social Changes Questionnaire for Ever Married Women Aged 15-54 Years Old
  • Youth Questionnaire for the Never Married Males and Females Aged 18-29 Years Old.

Data collection was carried out during the period September – November 2002
